I write news and features for Monterey County’s best news organization in print and online. I cover the areas of Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Carmel, Carmel Valley and North County. I also cover the areas of law enforcement, the military, health care and the hospitality industry.
I write news stories, features and content for a wide variety of web and print outlets in a timely and professional manner. I can do everything from straight news, to human interest, to general website content. I create stories that are accurate, and explain concepts to readers in a clear, concise manner. Contract Social Media Manager and Program Manager
I develop and coordinate social media for the Cupertino Library Foundation, regularly creating posts for several social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Pinterest. I write press releases as asked, as well as consult on other communication projects and fundraising strategy. In addition, in 2014 I served as Project Coordinator for the S^4 Super Summer Science Search™ Contest. I was elevated to Program Manager in September 2014. My duties include mentoring a team of high school volunteers, creating online sign-up and entry forms, managing the contest database, marketing, creating social media posts, among other activities.
Creator/Editor/Writer — Good Neighbor Stories
I created the Good Neighbor Stories blog to report and share positive stories about San Francisco Bay Area people helping others, whether around the block or around the world. I write my own posts and feature stories, take and edit photographs, and maintain the WordPress.org site. In Fall 2012 my stories and photos were published in the Good Neighbor Stories 2013 Datebook. I maintain Facebook and Twitter pages, and regularly promote through a variety of social media channels.
Developed and wrote web content for a network of local commercial city websites. Created interesting and informative articles for viewers that also increased SEO.
Freelance Writer/Guest Editor — Patch.com
I was a regular contributor to Patch.com sites in the Silicon Valley. I often covered city councils, county government, and local elections, and worked as part of a team covering breaking news. I took my own photographs to illustrate stories. In addition to reporting, I was often called on to guest edit. As guest editor I assigned and edited articles, created content, aggregated stories, and maintained the site using Patch’s content management system.
